YHWH's Holy Days or Holidays

                                                                         by Bruce Timpany

{{ Dear Friends and Fellow Servants }}}We are living in extraordinary times. Today, just as in the days of Isaiah, truth is fallen in the street; and judgment is turned away backward. On every front the truths of scripture are arrogantly disparaged while the wisdom and pagan customs of man is exalted and received as authoritative, and without question. We have a choice. We can choose the feast days instituted by YHWH or the holidays substituted by men. The choices we make affect our destiny and impact our relationship with our Creator.
'These are the feasts of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.
The first four of the Seven Feasts of the Lord have already been fulfilled. They were fulfilled in spectacular fashion. They were fulfilled right on the auspicious Hebrew calendar dates on which they have been celebrated in times past, the same dates that will be celebrated forever more. The three spring feasts were fulfilled by Jesus our Saviour. And the summer Feast of Pentecost was fulfilled as well. It was fulfilled by the Holy Spirit 2,000 years ago. Here is the situation so far.

SPRING FEASTS

1. Passover Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua at His crucifixion on Nisan 14 in the spring of 32 A.D.)
2. Feast of Unleavened Bread Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua at His burial in the tomb on Nisan 15 in the spring of 32 A.D.)
3. Feast of Firstfruits Fulfilled! (By Jesus/Yeshua at His Resurrection on Nisan 17 in the spring of 32 A.D.)
4. Feast of Pentecost Fulfilled! (By the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost on Sivan 7 in the summer of 32 A.D.)- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - (A gap of 2000 years or so has allowed the Light of Israel to . go forth into the nations for the Gentiles to be evangelized- - - - - - - - WE ARE HERE - - - - - - - - - Now here come the Fall Feasts. They are just up ahead.
FALL FEASTS
5. The Feast of Trumpets Unfulfilled ....(as of yet).
6. The Day of Atonement Unfulfilled ....(as of yet).
7. The Feast of TabernaclesUnfulfilled ....(as of yet). Tishrei 15 will come five days after that final epic Day of Atonement. This will mark the coming of Messiah to tabernacle with His covenant people. Thus begins the long awaited 1000 year Millennium of Messiah.
Deuteronomy/12:30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.12:31 Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods.
Over the last two millennia, traditional Christianity has systematically laid aside the "feast days of the Lord" and established its own holidays. Christmas was established to enable pagan converts to come into church fellowship without forsaking their heathen customs and practices. Easter is a replacement for the biblical Passover and Days of Unleavened Bread.
Even the weekly Sabbath was abandoned in favor of Sunday, the pagan day of the sun, supposedly to commemorate Jesus' resurrection , it took place not on Sunday morning but at the end of the weekly Sabbath at sunset Saturday).
Although we should immediately recognize that overruling God's instructions is dangerous behavior, let's consider, from the biblical record, whether such inventions and alterations are acceptable worship to our Creator God.
Changing God's instructions
When God began working with the ancient Israelites, He intended they set an example of obedience to Him for the nations around them (Deuteronomy 4:1, 6-8). They were to be a model nation, showing other peoples that God's way of life produces abundant blessings. Their experiences serve as continuing examples for us (1 Corinthians 10:1-11).
During their years in Egypt, the Israelites were exposed to Egyptian culture and worship. Notice whatUnger's Bible Dictionary says about this culture: "The Egyptian religion was an utterly bewildering polytheistic conglomeration in which many deities of the earliest periods, when each town had its own deity, were retained …
"Every object beheld, every phenomenon of nature, was thought to be indwelt by a spirit which could choose its own form, occupying the body of a crocodile, a fish, a cow, a cat, etc. Hence the Egyptians had numerous holy animals, principally the bull, the cow, the cat, the baboon, the jackal, and the crocodile" (1966, p. 291, "Egypt").
Shortly after miraculously delivering the Israelites from their bondage in Egypt, God instructed them how He wanted to be worshipped. He gave them His commandments (Exodus 20), along with statutes and judgments detailing how to apply them (Exodus 21-22). God revealed His feast days (Exodus 23:14-17; Leviticus 23) and gave directions regarding a priesthood, tabernacle and offerings (Exodus 25-31). God told Moses to climb Mount Sinai and gave him two tablets of stone engraved with the Ten Commandments (Exodus 24:12; 31:18).
When Moses didn't come down from Mount Sinai for some time (Exodus 32:1), the people prodded his brother Aaron into fashioning an idol for them to worship. They essentially mixed the Egyptian form of worship with the instructions they had just received from God. The practice of blending religious beliefs and practices is known as syncretism.
After creating a golden image of a calf, Aaron proclaimed the next day a holiday—"a feast to the Lord" (verses 4-5). They then "rose early and sacrificed burnt offerings and presented fellowship offerings. Afterward they sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in revelry" (verse 6, NIV). This celebration combined God's instruction with Egyptian religious practice and tradition.
We are not told why the Israelites chose this mix of worship. Perhaps they thought it was not a good idea to abandon all the familiar forms of worship at once and they simply practiced what they were accustomed to from their years immersed in Egyptian culture. Whatever their thinking, God was not pleased. He told Moses: "Go down, because your people, whom you brought up out of Egypt, have become corrupt. They have been quick to turn away from what I commanded them" (verses 7-8, NIV).
God shows from His Word that He expects more from those who claim to follow Him. He wants people to worship Him "in spirit and truth" (John 4:23-24)—not with corrupted, vile practices rooted in the worship of other gods.
Consequences of futile worship
The Israelites were in no way justified in departing from the God-ordained instructions introduced in the wilderness. God was so angered by their actions that He was ready to destroy the nation (Exodus 32:10). Only on Moses' pleadings did God relent and spare them (verses 11-14).
Ancient Israel's experiment with combining parts of God's instruction with pagan customs and elements was a disaster. In punishment for this sin, 3,000 men lost their lives (verses 27-28). Those who weren't killed had to drink water polluted with the ground-up idol, pulverized into powder (verse 20).
Being presumptuous—taking unauthorized liberty to do things such as altering God's instructions for worship—is sinful. The Bible describes the Israelites' actions as "a great sin" (verses 21, 30, 31). God's law is clear concerning presumptuous behavior (Numbers 15:30-31).
The principle holds true today among God's people. Once we come to understand His truth, we have an obligation to take steps to obey Him. We recognize that the instruction and examples in His Word were recorded for our spiritual instruction and benefit (1 Corinthians 10:6, 11; Romans 15:4

The Bible Says

                                         Contributed by Bruce Timpany

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Idolatry is Never Acceptable

                                            by Bruce Timpany

OBELISKS, TEMPLES, AND TOWERS Symbols of "SUN (Baal) Worship" AMONG THE ANCIENT nations, not only were statues of the gods and goddesses in human form made, other objects with a hidden or mystery meaning, such as obelisks, were a part of heathen Worship. Diodorus spoke of an obelisk 130 feet high that was erected by queen Semiramis in Babylon. The Bible mentions an obelisk--type image approximately nine feet in breadth and ninety feet high: The people...fell down and Worshiped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up" Babylon (Dan. 3:1-7). But it was in Egypt (an early stronghold of the mystery religion) that the use of the obelisk was best known. Many of these obelisks are still in Egypt, but some have been removed to other nations-one is in Central Park in New York, another in London, while others were transported to Rome.

Originally, the obelisk was associated with SUN Worship, The ancients, having rejected the knowledge of the true creator---seeing that the SUN gave life to plants and to man, looked upon the SUN as a god, the great life giver. To them, upright objects such as the obelisk also had a sexual significance. Realizing that through sexual union life was produced, the phallus was considered (along with the SUN) a symbol of life. These were beliefs represented by the obelisk.

The largest upright phallus of the SUN in the world is the George Washington monument in Washington D.C., the capital city of the United States of America. Its dimension at its base is 55.5 ft. wide by 55.5 ft.long, with a height 555 ft high. Guess what the sum total is, when you add up those three Dimensions?

The word "images" in the Bible is translated from several different Hebrew words. One of these words, matzebah means "standing images" or obelisks ( 1 Kings 14: 23; 2 Kings 18 :4: 23:14; Jer. 43:13: Micah 5: 13). Another word is hammanim which means "SUN images," images dedicated to the SUN obelisks (Isaiah 17:8; 27:9).

In order for the obelisks to carry out their intended symbolism, they were placed upright--erect. Thus they pointed up--toward the SUN. As a symbol of the phallus, the erect position also had an obvious significance. Bearing this mind, it is interesting to notice that when divine judgment was pronounced against this false Worship, it was said that these images (obelisks) "shall not stand, up," but would be cast down (Isaiah 27:9).http://granddesignexposed.com/babylon/towers.html

The book is Revelation

WE ARE FAST APPROACHING THE GREAT TRIBULATION WRITTEN IN THE BIBLE.{{{>}}}: 2“This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Write in a book all the words I have spoken to you. 3 The days are coming,’ declares the Lord, ‘when I will bring my people Israel and Judah back from captivity and restore them to the land I gave their forefathers to possess,’ says the Lord.”4 These are the words the Lord spoke concerning Israel and Judah: 5“This is what the Lord says:“‘Cries of fear are heard—terror, not peace. 6 Ask and see:Can a man bear children?Then why do I see every strong man with his hands on his stomach like a woman in labor,every face turned deathly pale? 7 How awful that day will be!None will be like it.It will be a time of trouble for Jacob,but he will be saved out of it.8“‘In that day,’ declares the Lord Almighty, {{{>}}}For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be.{{{ Revelation 2:22 }}} Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works . {{{>}}}While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  At last! Peace and safety! Peace and safety! Yet, like birth pains on a pregnant woman, instantly their so-called utopia turned into a living nightmare! As sudden as the peace began, so it ended. The next thing you know, all hell broke loose on earth. Instantly across the world, men began to literally slaughter one another, which led to a global food shortage where one days wages could barely provide for one person. As a result, 1/4th of the earth died either by sword, famine, plague, or an onslaught of wild ravenous beasts. Those who survived this first wave of destruction only wished they hadn’t for the next thing they know 1/3rd of the earth burned up, 1/3rd of the trees burned up and all the green grass being burned up. Then 1/3rd of seas turn to blood, 1/3rd of sea creatures died, 1/3rd of the fresh water became bitter and 1/3rd of the sun, moon and stars darkened causing MANY more people to die. Just when they thought is couldn’t get any worse, those who were still alive looked into the sky only to see a vulture-like creature flying through the sky announcing the beginning of horrible time like never before. Suddenly, a 5-month invasion of evil wicked demons who tormented the inhabitants of the earth with a pain so bad they wanted to die but couldn’t. But this was only a prelude of what was to come. Wicked demons who were bound for millennia were now unleashed to set loose a hellish army of 200 million demonic soldiers that killed another 1/3rdof mankind by having fire, smoke, and highly flammable brimstone gushed upon them like a river! 2The survivors moaned in utter despair, ‘Surely, surely this is the last of it,’ only to discover to their horror that they haven’t seen anything yet! Instantly, ugly and painful sores broke out on the people of the world causing pain inside and out. Then the whole sea turned into blood like that of a dead man, and every living thing in the sea died.Next, the rivers and springs became blood while the sun intensified like never before scorching people with an unbelievably searing fire. Men gnawed their tongues in agony and cursed because of their pain. Then an earthquake rattled the planet like had never occurred since man’s existence where the cities of the nations totally collapsed, every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. This was followed by huge hundred pound hailstones falling out of the sky crushing people like bugs on a windshield.  Then amazingly, the final inhabitants of the earth gathered together for one last battle whereupon they were instantly annihilated with the blood of their carcasses rising up as high as a horse’s bridle with the birds of the air gorging themselves on their flesh. The book is Revelation. How to Celebrate Yom Teruah Like You Mean It!!!

                                                  by Bruce Timpany

    {{ Idioms for the Feast of Yom Teruah: Feast of Trumpets}} : REPENTANCE  !!!!!!!
    Feast of Yom Kippur: REDEMPTION  Feast of Tabernacles: REJOICING

Hebrew Roots Resource and Teaching
Yom (pronounced Yome) Teruah basically means “day of noise/blasts.”

“Teruah” is traditionally understood as the blowing of the shofar, specifically the
ram’s horn, but it is also translated as a joyful noise. In the English Bible is is
referred to as the Feast of Trumpets and comes at the end of the fruit harvest in
Israel. As noted in the verses above, Yom Teruah is on the first day of the
seventh month which is more commonly called Tishri.

Idioms for the Feast of Yom Teruah:

    The Time of Jacobs trouble The Day of the Awakening Blast Yom HaDin/Day of Judgment/The Opening of the Books/Opening of the Gates Yom HaKeseh (The Hidden Day) Ha Kiddushin/Nesuin (Wedding of the Messiah)   Ha Melech (Coronation of the Messiah)
Generally speaking, Yom Teruah comes at the time of the last harvest of the
year, so in Exodus 34:22 this season is referred to as the end of the year. Yom
Teruah is also called Rosh Hashanah, meaning the New (civil) Year.  However,
we must remember that the LORD specifically states that the year begins in
Nisan (or Aviv), the month of Passover.

Yom Teruah marks the beginning of the moedim, appointed times, that lasts through the twenty-second day of the seventh month, ending after the eighth day of Sukkkot (Feast of Tabernacles/Booths). This is a joyous time of celebration and worship of our Father.

The Akeidah
 Leviticus 23 tells us that the blowing is a memorial but it does not state "what" is being memorialized.  Many believe that it is a memorial of God’s grace to Abraham when He substituted a ram in place of Isaac. This is known as the Akeidah (the binding of Isaac). Traditionally, Judaism remembers the Akeidah at Yom Teruah. There are many parallels of between Isaac and Yeshua. Both men were sons of promise, both came into the world under miraculous circumstances with their births announced by angels and through both men the world has been blessed. Both men were beloved sons of their fathers who were blameless with neither one deserving any form of capital punishment, both men had to carry
the implements of their judgment to the place of their sacrifices and both were in their mid to late thirties at the time of their sacrifice. Isaac and Yeshua went willingly and without uttering a word in their defense or attempting to change the mind of their fathers. And both of these men lived after the event–Isaac being substituted with a ram and Yeshua being raised up on the third day.

A shofar is usually made from a ram's horn and it reminds us of the ram that God provided to Abraham to take Isaac's place on the altar.  The blowing of the shofar has special significance on this day. The shofar has a beautiful sound and is sounded in 100 blasts on this day.

The shofar/trumpet is blown at special festivals and to herald the arrival of special seasons. Alfred Edersheim wrote that “One of it’s main purposes was to rouse men to repentance. In fact, the commentator Maimonides (1135 – 1204) makes use of the following words to denote the meaning of the blowing of trumpets: ‘Rouse ye, rouse ye from your slumber; awake, awake from your sleep, you who mind vanity, for slumber most heavy has fallen upon you. Take it to heart, before whom you are to give an account in the judgment.’”

In Scripture the shofar/trumpet sounding is almost always a summons, a war-cry, an alert warning (to prepare for something), to hail an arrival, or a wake-up call if someone is sleeping (spiritually or physically). As we learned just the other day, the shofar is again sounded in Israel just before a battle as it was in ancient days.

Yom Teruah begins a 10 day period known as the Days of Awe in which the blowing of the shofar is followed by a time of introspection, worshipers looking into their own hearts and lives for misdeeds and transgressions. These ten days are days of repentance and preparation for judgment. Yom Kippur/The Day of Atonement is the tenth day of the seventh month and is known as “Judgment Day”. This is our face to face appointment with the Most High God that is celebrated annually.

There are the exchange of greetings such as “Lashana Tova!” (Have a good year!) or “Lashana Tova Tikatevu!” (May you be inscribed [in the Book of Life] for a good year”. There are also special services and traditions within the Body of Messiah.

Tashlich is an interesting ceremony that is based on Micah 7:19 which states: “And Thou wilt cast (ve-tashlich) all their sins into the depths of the sea” This is generally done with prayer, confession of sin, and a relinquishing of that sin. To cast our stone into the water is a physical reminder of His casting our sins away into the sea of forgetfulness.

Special foods are eaten such as: Challah fashioned in a spiral pattern instead of a braided pattern to signify the circular and cyclical pattern of life; fruit, apples and honey (for a sweet new year); honey cakes, and carrot tzimmes!

Sliced apples for dipping in a honey pot to sample a sweet new year is probably the most common symbol of Yom Teruah aside from the shofar.  In fact, since this is the fruit and vegetable harvest celebration, sweet fruits and veggies are typically eaten at this celebration. This year, the younger children will participate in a fruit tasting/rating workshop at our picnic.  This should be fun to see your children sampling and enjoying the harvest.

Bouillabaisse or Fish head dishes… uhhh, maybe next year?  This signifies the hope to be at HEAD and not the TAIL of situations during the coming year.  Instead, there will be a HEAD of Cabbage with coleslaw surrounding it as this years HEAD and not the TAIL delicacy.  But a head of Lettuce (salads) or head of steamed Cauliflower with buttered peas surrounding it (or in Veggie trays)?  Maybe you have another idea to present, so let’s build a new traditions!!

Remember that this is a celebration, a festive time--but solemn assemblies can also be joyous ones. This is a holy day, an appointed time. This is a feast.

How to celebrate?
 In reading the traditional passages from Leviticus and Numbers we read that Yom Teruah is to be a special Shabbat, a holy convocation where we do no regular work. Scripture seems only to say that this is a sacred Shabbat and a memorial, celebrated with a loud blasts.

Psalm 27 and 81 are prescribed for this special time. There are other readings prescribed as well, which can be easily found online. Though Scripture is vague about what it is a memorial of, as Believers we take this opportunity to remember our Master and His work on our behalf. This is a time for offering forgiveness and reconciliation with family, friends and business associates.

There are wonderful foods associated with Yom Teruah, helping to make it a special and set apart celebration so have a marvelous feast. On the “Day of Noise/Blasts” we are encouraged to shout aloud with songs of praise to our God, to make a joyful noise unto the LORD so music is certainly a part of Yom Teruah, particularly if it involves horns or trumpets. Remember, it must be LOUD! With all the noise it will be a difficult day to forget.

If celebrating Yom Teruah is new to you, remember to have fun!  It's not about strictly about the form, but the rehearsal of things to come.  Every year we can only hope to add more and to improve in our rejoicing that
                                             THE KING IS COMING!!!!
{The Creators calendar} God's feast days are missing on the Christian calendar. Many Gentile believers regard them as outdated, insignificant Jewish rituals. That is unfortunate because they miss the fullness and beauty of God's plan of redemption, reflected in His appointed times. The Old Testament feasts were dress rehearsals for the two greatest events in history the first and second coming of Yahu’shua                                                         The Fall Festival of the Messiah - YHWH
