Satyrs and Other Mythology

“In Greek mythology, a satyr is one of a troop of male companions of Pan and Dionysus with goat-like (caprine) features, including a goat-tail, goat-like ears, and sometimes a goat-like phallus. In Roman Mythology there is a similar concept with goat-like features, the faun being half-man, half-goat.” Wikipedia definition of Satyrs

A satyr is defined as a being with goat and human features. Many refer to them as half-god, half-animal beings; and although they are found in the pagan religions, doesn’t mean that they did not exit. The Bible actually refers to these creatures…

“But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.” Isaiah 13:21 KVJ

“The wild beasts of the desert shall also meet with the wild beasts of the island, and the satyr shall cry to his fellow; the screech owl also shall rest there, and find for herself a place of rest.” Isaiah 34:14 KJV

“And he spake unto Ephron [Greek Word means "Fawn Like"] in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.” Genesis 23:13

The Hebrew word for “satyr” means hairy demon goat. Which means these creatures were more than just ‘goats’, they had some sort of demon feature. And while the Bible supports satyr’s existence, that does not mean that the Bible backs Greek and Roman mythology, in fact quite the opposite. These false pagan religions prove the Bible’s legitimacy by supporting claims made by the Bible years before these religions even existed.

Martyrs

Somewhere around the world, another Christian is martyred, on average, every three hours, according to a new report that identifies nations where radical Islamists are abundant as the worst locations on Earth for Christians to be. The new World Watch List research team for Open Doors International said the majority of the cases in which Christians are killed over their faith happen in Nigeria, Syria and the Central African Republic. “The alarming increase of violence against Christians in Nigeria over the past months highlights the lack of religious freedom they have and the daily dangers they face from the Islamic terrorist group Boko Haram and other violent Islamic organizations,” said David Curry, president of Open Doors USA. Curry added, “Going to school, attending church or identifying yourself as a Christian is a very brave decision in Nigeria. It is turning into a bloodbath. Christians in the West must stand in the gap with our prayers and support.

A Judged Creation

If there is one thing the Bible is clear about it is this. One day, God is going to put an end to all the evil and suffering that goes on in our world. One day, He will judge this wicked and rebellious planet and make all things new. He did it once with a worldwide flood and Hes going to do it again with a worldwide fire. Thus, you would think people would conclude, Hey man, I better get right with God so I don't suffer the Judgment of God. Yet the Bible records the sad news of how the people in the last days would actually choose to be scoffers instead of taking God up on His offer to be rescued before its too late. Pope Francis Arrives in Jerusalem

Pope Francis arrived on Sunday evening at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, where he was scheduled to meet with the spiritual leader of the world’s Orthodox Christians, the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I. The pope arrived in Israel Sunday afternoon at Ben-Gurion Airport and called for the rights of Palestinians to a sovereign homeland to be recognized, while reiterating Israel’s right to exist in peace. A full guard of honor was prepared for the pontiff, who arrived by helicopter from Bethlehem, where he had made a stop at the security barrier to pray for peace. The pope was greeted by President Shimon Peres, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and numerous political and religious dignitaries.  Full story

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. -Psalm 27:5{{{ The Definition of Love }}} Although the Scriptures clearly define love, it has been given all manner of modern definition by various institutions and religions. Most souls think of love according to its attributes because love is rather difficult to define. Many Christians assert that "God is love" and one of the popular clichés is to "just love the Lord."

But the manner of how one "loves the Lord" brings up much opinion and debate, especially since Christians often teach a love that is quite the opposite of what Scripture teaches. For example, "And by this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we love Elohim and follow his commandments. For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome. Because, whoever is born of Elohim overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith" (1 John 5:2-4).

The definition of love is best understood through Mashiyach's life and teachings: "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15); and, "He who has my commandments with him and keeps them, he is who loves me and he who loves me will be loved by my Father. And I will love him and reveal myself to him" (John 14:21); and, "If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept the commandments of my Father, and I abide in His love." (John 15:10). Abiding in His love is clearly connected to "keeping the commandments." The "commandments of my Father" always refers to Torah; and Y'shua taught that "if you love" him, you will keep the Commandments.

Mashiyach Y'shua clearly kept the commandments of his Father, but yet only a tiny minority of Christians would even consider the importance of these same Commandments - even though the name "Christian" comes from the same root haMishchah (the anointing) which means to be "Mashiyach like." Y'shua is the Word of YHWH, and about this Spirit of Mashiyach Moshe wrote: "And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My Commandments" (Sh'mot/Exodus 20:6); and, "Therefore you shall love YHWH your Elohim and keep His charge and His Statutes and His Judgments and His Commandments, always."
